Kirstin McCoy's original winter paintings are a serene celebration of the season's quiet beauty. Her paintings, like "Winter Pines" and "The First Snow," are more than just visual experiences; they are an invitation to a meditative journey through the quietude of snow-laden scenes. With a style that balances minimalism with semi-abstract forms, McCoy's work offers a fresh perspective on the winter landscape. The subtle interplay of light and shadow, the soft contours of the snow-covered earth, and the stark, yet comforting presence of winter trees create a harmonious symphony of visuals. More importantly, he observed nature without ever getting tired of it.' |
Contour Line - Art Collection at Artsper
2023 Montmartre Paris and La Maison Rose Paris are featured in a curated collection at Artsper... 'A contour line in all its simplicity is the marking used by artists to define the shape of their subject without using shading. Essentially, they outline the subject, with emphasis on the mass and volume rather than on the details. A fundamental element of any drawing or painting, contour lines are often the first technique adopted when experimenting with art. As a contour can convey a three-dimensional perspective, length and width as well as thickness and depth are important, and not all contours exist along the outlines of a subject. By altering the type of contour, an artist can convey details aspects of its subjects relating to their shape and form. For example, a lighter line with less gradation suggests a greater distance between the subjects, whereas a darker portion of the contour may depict a subject with little or no light source, thus conveying whether the subject is lower or perhaps compressed. Furthermore, artists use contour lines to add accents or cast shadows.' Montmartre Paris - SOLD VIEW La Maison Rose Paris |

Interiors inspired by the rich and varied cultures of Asia allow us to travel to distant lands while remaining at home. Artwork enhances this spirit while adding a personal touch. One of the first concepts that comes to mind regarding Asian decoration is the ancient technique of Feng Shui. Feng Shui is a Chinese method that allows us to achieve fulfilment and serenity by affecting our physical environment directly. This thousand-year-old art translates into French as "wind and water" and is based on the five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal and water. 2021 Inspired by William Turner 'Autumn Reflection' is featured at Singulart Gallery in a collection 'Inspired by William Turner.' 'William Turner is considered one of the greatest masters of 19th century English painting. The "Painter of Light" was a tireless traveler, he never ceased to be inspired by his predecessors, notably the great French classical painters such as Nicolas Poussin and Claude Lorrain. His landscape paintings are immediately recognizable, through the clouds reflecting in the water, sun-rays and fog effects. These canvases are bathed in a veil of light, with harmonies of light tones, whose dark light plays on contrasts and brings out the colours. Shapes are suggested by color rather than line accuracy. At the time, his daring experiments won him much criticism but also the admiration of his contemporaries, the Impressionists.' VIEW ART |

August 2018 "Oil Painting" 'Beach' and 'Pine Tree Island' by Kirstin McCoy are featured in Singulart Magazine. "Oil painting is arguably one of the best known and most used painting mediums. Oil paint consists of suspending various pigments in a drying oil that acts as the binder. A variety of oils can be used as the binding agent, such as linseed oil or safflower oil. Each oil lends a different property to the quality of the paint and can affect the drying time or the yellow hue that it gains over time. The use of oil paint can be traced back to Buddhist paintings from the fifth to tenth century, executed by early Chinese and Indian artists in western Afghanistan. However it gained popularity during the 15th century, where it quickly became the most commonly used medium for painting. What was popularised during the Northern Renaissance with Early Netherlandish painting then became popular with Southern European Renaissance painters, so much so that it almost completely supplanted tempera painting".... "Landscape painting is a highly popular genre in Western art, with a long and established tradition. Landscapes typically portray a variety of natural scenes, including mountains, rivers, valleys, forests, fields, and coasts. This definition was expanded in the 20th century to include urban and industrial landscapes. Landscape painters are inspired by the world around them, and while landscape paintings are principally figurative, they have become increasingly abstracted with the rise of abstraction. Contemporary artists paint a landscape because they are moved by its beauty, or to make a comment on the relationship between man and the environment".... AUTUMN COLOURS IS NOW SOLD |

WORLD OF ART MAGAZINE RUSSIA - Мир Искусства …
July 2015 Twenty Paintings by Kirstin McCoy’s are featured at the Russian Мир Искусства (World of Art Magazine)...
