Avoid Singulart - It is now the worst place to buy or sell art online.
Navigating the Art World! ... As of now, my art is no longer available on Singulart. Over the years on Singulart, I have witnessed a pattern of commitments that have not been honored. Promises made to artists have been repeatedly broken, and there seems to be a disconnect between what is said and what is actually done. Furthermore, the continuous reduction in artists' earnings is disheartening. Their large commission fees, VAT charges, huge shipping fees, and recently the introduction of monthly subscription fees of up to €150 for artists just to be on the site mean that it is no longer sustainable or desirable for me to remain on Singulart. There has been a noticeable decline in the quality of art on Singulart over the past few years. It has been sad to witness a space that once showcased quality art gradually lower its standards. This shift not only undermines Singulart's reputation but also discredits the genuine talent of artists who have earned their place through merit. Moreover, the recent trend of individuals securing a place on Singulart through financial means is alarming. This practice not only compromises the integrity of the art community but also discourages aspiring artists who may not have the means to compete financially. Singulart is on its way to becoming a "vanity gallery." A topic that is increasingly gaining attention in the art community is the direct purchase of artwork from creators. This approach not only fosters a closer connection between the artist and the collector but also ensures that the creators receive the full compensation for their work, free from the often substantial fees taken by intermediaries. In recent times, there has been a surge in the number of collectors who are choosing to bypass galleries and dealers, opting instead to engage directly with artists. This shift is not only empowering artists financially but is also encouraging a more transparent and equitable art market. As an artist deeply passionate about art, I am committed to continuing my journey of creative exploration and sharing my work with the global community. I will be dedicating more time and resources to enhance my own online gallery here at kirstinmccoy.com

My 'Wild Flowers' painting is a symphony of colours and a true celebration of nature's spontaneous beauty. When you view at this artwork, you are immediately drawn into a world where the delicate white and blue wildflowers sway gracefully in the gentle breeze. These wild blooms, with their vivid hues, seem to leap out of the canvas, contrasting magnificently against a backdrop of a tranquil sky. The horizon is a canvas within a canvas, where the sky is painted with a soft pale glow that gradually deepens into a rich tapestry of blues. Each shade seamlessly transitions into the next, creating a visual harmony that is soothing to the soul. My Painting of 'The Burren, Wild Atlantic Way,' is a captivating representation of the unique landscape of the Burren in County Clare. This large, dramatic painting captures the essence of the limestone terrain, a distinctive feature of the region. The solitary Ash tree, standing far in the distance beneath a cloudy sky, becomes a focal point of the composition, symbolizing strength, power, and hope. The Ash tree, one of the few that thrives in this rugged environment, carries deep symbolic meaning. It is associated with protection, mystic power, and spirituality, reflecting the physical and metaphysical realms. In Celtic mythology, the Ash is revered as 'The World Tree,' a concept that signifies the interconnectedness of all life, spanning between worlds as 'The Tree of Life.' The name 'The Burren' itself, derived from the Irish 'Boireann,' meaning 'great rock,' echoes the enduring and resilient nature of the landscape. This painting is not just a visual treat but also an invitation to ponder the profound connections between nature, mythology, and the human spirit. This artwork, ready to hang, offers viewers a chance to bring a piece of the Wild Atlantic Way's mystique into their own space, serving as a reminder of the enduring beauty and strength found in nature and lore. My work stands as a testament to the power of art to evoke emotion and thought, bridging the gap between the tangible and the ethereal.
My "Winter Pines" painting is a captivating piece that transports viewers to a serene winter landscape. The painting depicts a grove of pine trees blanketed in snow, with a backdrop of overcast skies that promise more winter wonder. My use of a semi-abstract style allows the viewer to engage with the painting on a personal level, filling in the details with their imagination. The minimalistic approach I've taken is not merely a stylistic choice but a statement on the essence of nature's beauty. By stripping down the elements to their core, I invite the viewer to appreciate the subtle interplay of light and shadow, the quiet strength of the pines standing against the cold, and the softness of the snow that transforms the familiar into something magical. This piece is not just a visual experience; it's an emotional journey. The cool palette and the gentle blending of colours evoke a sense of calm and introspection.
