The route winds its way all along the Irish west coast from the beautiful town of Kinsale, County Cork, in the South up to Inishowen Peninsula, County Donegal in the North. The scene is of the stunning Dingle Peninsula with the Blasket Islands in the distance. Several cottages are dotted on the vibrant green landscape and the wind is blowing the clouds accross the sky with the waves crashing onto the shore below. This is the most western part of Ireland and is often referred to as “the next parish to America.” The western end of the peninsula is a Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking area) that has produced a number of nationally notable authors and poets including Ó Siochfhradha and Peig Sayers. |

Malin Head, on the Wild Atlantic Way, is a rugged, unspoilt and spectacular place. It is renowned for it’s superb coastal scenery, wonderful beaches and wildlife. Malin Head is situated on the Inishowen Peninsula in County Donegal and is the most northerly point of the island of Ireland. Malin Head also known as Cionn Mhálanna in Gaelic is an historical place, it was visited by the Vikings, the ancient Celts and Saint Columbkille over the centuries.
