The two piers of the harbour and the lighthouses can also be seen. The style of the painting is abstract... Pleased to see “Poppy Field" featured in a new collection, 'Inspired by Van Gogh,' at Saatchi Art Gallery... 'Vincent Van Gogh is undoubtedly one of the most influential artists of the 20th Century. His bold, gestural brush strokes and emotive, often personal, subject matter inspired the Abstract Expressionists of the 1940s and 50s (Willem de Kooning and Jackson Pollack to name a few) and had an undeniable impact on modern art.' This collection is curated by Aurora Garrison Assistant Curator at Saatchi...

« Layer by layer, colour by colour, I paint the essence, spirit, and energy of the world around me. » Kirstin McCoy is an Irish painter who lives and works in the South of France. Influenced by the Impressionists, Expressionists and Fauvists, her canvases capture the wonders of nature, flora and fauna, under the brilliant “southern light”. This is coupled with seascapes from the blue waters of the Mediterranean sea. McCoy employs both palette knives and brushes to achieve her painterly surface. This energy and dynamism is paired with a vivid colour palette to capture the essence, spirit and energy of the world around her. She believes in the expressive power of colour, taking her inspiration from the likes of Henri Matisse, Vincent Van Gogh and David Hockney. Pleased to see my painting “Pilgrim Path" is the featured artwork at Saatchi Art Gallery for St Patrick's Day... 'Croagh Patrick Mountain is a place of ancient history—the tradition of pilgrimage to St Patrick’s sacred mountain stretches back over 5,000 years and Kirstin McCoy's oil painting beautifully captures the pilgrim's path to it. Happy St Patricks Day!' This painting is also on Saatchi social media...
Saatchi Art Instagram Saatchi Art Facebook Saatchi Art Twitter This is a favourite artwork of mine, it's an oil painting on canvas of a beautiful white Lotus flower. The darker colours of the pond contrast the brighter lotus flower creating a wonderful atmospheric ambience. Layers of paint have been added creating a very subtle and unique rich finish. The Lotus flower in different cultures symbolises different things, however all share the core theme of beauty, eloquence and purity. The flower is linked to Hinduism, Buddhism, and the ancient Egyptian’s religions... The ancient Egyptians used the plant extensively as a symbol in their paintings and carvings and for them it represented rebirth. Hindu religious leaders used the flower as a symbol of peace and eternity. In Buddhism the Lotus also represents spiritual development and awareness. Eight of my London artworks are featured in a new curated collection called 'London Calling' at Singulart Gallery, Paris....
"This modern metropolis has inspired artists for centuries with its distinct dynamism and ever-evolving urban landscape. London is certainly a city of contrasts, and the iconic skyline is a testament to this, with buildings such as St Paul's Cathedral standing proudly against a backdrop of glistening skyscrapers. Constantly changing and advancing, the city is an exciting place for artists wanting to harness this vibrancy and movement in their creations. Singulart's artists are capturing London's rich cultural heritage and electrifying energy in this latest collection." |
